The Ashby Branch of the Royal British Legion has entered a cart propelled by legion members.
Kevan from team The Patriots said he has always enjoyed making things himself in his spare time. Originally from Woking in Surrey, Kevan joined the Coldstream Guards in 1961 enjoying a 32 year career. Once he left the service he became a HGV driver and has since been happily retired for 13 years.
He wants to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and his soapbox will pay homage to this. All the parts used to make his creation have been sourced from charity shops in Ashby and from old bits of metal that he has had lying around the garage for 40 years.
The Patriots soapbox will have a slot for donations on the vehicle and asks that if any spectators are able to give a donation to The Royal British Legion they will be very gratefully received.
